Managing the Toughest Transition: Part 2

چکیده
Be careful what you ask for. Most of us have heard this familiar saying. IT leaders now can testify as to its veracity. CIOs have lamented for years that they were not invited to a “seat at the table” with their senior-level colleagues. It appears that what they wished for is happening. The “2002 State of the CIO” survey conducted by CIO magazine and reported in their March 1, 2002, issue contains evidence that IT leaders are increasingly viewed by their business unit colleagues as strategic business partners. That is the good news, but it carries a challenge. The challenge for IT leaders is that they and their colleagues are under increasing pressure to help produce quantifiable business results. The recent downturn in IT spending is, in part, a result of the perception among CEOs and other Clevel executives that investments in IT have not resulted in expected bottom-line improvements. This is ratcheting up the pressure for increasingly competent IT leadership. Adding to already-high stress levels, the transition from individual contributor to leader and manager continues to be a source of difficulty and frustration. This article shows how risk assessment methods can be used to measure disease burden in the full population and to discriminate levels of future health care needs within specific disease cohorts. We also examine and compare the predict...
متن کاملPotentiometric Study of Complex Formation Between Some Transition Metal Ions and 2 - Aminopyridine. Part 1. A Model for Therapeutic Agent for Wilson’s Disease
The complexation reactions of some transition metal ions and 2-aminopyridine (2-ampy) were studied potentiometrically in aqueous solution at µ=0.1 M and 25 °C. The overall stability constants log β’s of all species are obtained by computer refinement of pH-volume data with using the BEST computer program. Several models were tested and the best one accepted according to the least sum of squ...

متن کاملRole of the AtClC genes in regulation of root elongation in Arabidopsis
The protein family of anion channel (ClC) constitute a family of transmembrane trnsporters that either function as anion channel or as H+/anion exchanger. The expression of three genes of AtClCa, AtClCb and AtClCd in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana were silenced by a T-DNA insertion . When the pH of the medium was slightly acidic the length of the primary root of plants with a disrupted At...
متن کاملFracture toughness of mountain gorilla (Gorilla gorilla beringei) food plants.
Mountain gorillas, the largest extant primates, subsist almost entirely on plant matter. Moreover, their diet includes a substantial amount of structural material, such as bark and stems, which other primates tend to avoid. Accordingly, the robust masticatory apparatus of gorillas may be adaptive to this presumably tough diet; however, quantitative information on this subject is lacking. In thi...
